Kandace Williamson, LMFT Associate ( Supervised by Ryan Lloyd, PhD, LMFT-S) is the owner and operator of Ladybird Relationship Therapy. Kandace is a skilled couples and family therapist serving the state of Texas. Kandace and her associates offer in person sessions in central Austin, Texas and online sessions throughout the state of Texas. Focusing on couples attempting to navigate their paths forward and communication patterns and individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, family issues, and triggering trauma histories. She is EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) trained through EMDRIA, treating trauma and the processing of traumatic events, event specific and complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and family of origin obstacles. Kandace works systemically and understands that every family and couple has their own culture, goals and issues. Individual treatment plans for families and individuals play a key role in her practice. Understanding the journey her clients travel creates a warm and safe place to process life’s most challenging situations.

As one of the few Certified Discernment Counselors in Texas, Kandace works with couples on the brink of divorce or separation where one partner is leaning out and the other partner is leaning in. Kandace guides couples towards clarity and confidence in their decisions regarding their relationship moving forward and helps couples explore each person’s contribution to the problems in their relationship in order to gain insight they can carry into their current or future relationships. One of the goals in Discernment Counseling is to avoid “hot divorces” and to help both partners in the marriage experience a “drone-style” view of the state of their relationship as it stands now and the path forward.

Kandace was the co-author of an academic book edited by Linda Metcalf, PhD and published in 2024 titled Marriage and Family Therapy - A Practice-Oriented Approach (3rd edition).

Kandace studied in London at the Solution Focused BRIEF Center and and The Institution of Narrative Therapy in London (2023). Kandace is also one of the few Certified Discernment Counselors in the state of Texas. Kandace completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at Austin and completed her MS in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.
